no trevor, tough times, fancy cars

Last night I has some very strange dreams. One of which was going to evening service and seeing Mr. Jeff and finding out that Andrea hadn’t delivered their boy… I also met some friends or family of his who were all waiting to see their newest relative.

Since Lisa and I missed Crossroads yesterday we haven’t heard any news about this baby. Anyone know if she delivered?

Yesterday was a day filled with some rather unforgettable experiences. We missed Crossroads because we attended a multi-cultural church event at the korean church I work at. We heard songs sung in 3 languages simultaneously, “sharing” in 3 languages simultaneously, etc. It was alright. The sermon was shallow and irresonsible, not that there wasn’t some “truth” there, but you’d be hard pressed to determine the Diety of Jesus from this Christmas sermon or understand the work of Christ on Calvary. Sad.

Later that evening with went to a family party for all of my dad’s clan. There were probably 120 people there, all closely related to me, most were first cousins of my dad. My paternal grandmother is the eldest of 9 children, so our division of the clan is the collective oldest, my dad has a brother who is older than his own uncle, I think. Claire is the first great-grand daughter of the family, and generationally the furthest down the family tree.

20 years ago this Saturday marks the day my grandfather died. I think I will go and visit his grave. It’s been years since I’ve seen it, but I think I that I can find it. He has left quite a legacy, the man was a hard worker, someone who loved God and cared for people. He came poor and left poor.

Last night, all of the family travelled in their fancy cars (including ourselves) and I could help but wonder if times were more happy whatsoever. Our parties used to be in tents in a town called Westmoreland now they are in nice restaurants. It was fine and a fun time so I’m not complaining, and I know you can’t measure contentment objectively, but I still wonder if we are still as thankful and still as content.

I work hard to be content but with all of these distractions it’s not as easy…

Good times though.

I am husband to my sweetheart Lisa, and we are parents of our sweetheart Claire Renae and the curiously cute Evan. I wish I could say that I speak a little, and think a lot, but I think I speak a lot and think less than I should.
